TNA Impact – 19/11/09 – The Ultimate Online Review!
One week ago to this very night, TNA Wrestling pulled off their best PPV in 2009 by a country mile, many are even calling this event, the best PPV in company history [Not bad for a PPV that was just meant to be a follow up to Bound For Glory, what’s meant to be TNA’s biggest event of the year]. So coming into this weeks Impact, I was in no doubt, not even in the deepest darkest corner of my broad thinking mind, that this was the “Turning Point” in TNA Wrestling, after weeks and months of just doing enough, I though that this would be the time for the company and the stars to shine, but in all fairness, it was just another Impact, and really did nothing to sell next months Final Resolution, and finally put over their best effort of 2009, Turning Point.
Some matches stand out as real wrestling matches to put on show, such as the tag team main event between Daniels and Desmond Wolfe teaming up to take on the TNA World Heavyweight Champion, AJ Styles and Kurt Angle, neither of these men had teamed together in the past, so it was an exciting concept to sell on free TV. The match was a triumph and Daniels finally got that pinfall over Styles he’d been looking for, to cement his bragging rights over the champion, and get his very first one on one title shot with AJ Styles. That’s easy to say on paper, but had it not been for the power of Desmond Wolfe taking down Styles, setting up Daniels BME finisher, Chris wouldn’t have got the win, and on the other side of the ring, Kurt Angle still hasn’t received his rematch from No Surrender, after losing the title, he then went on to face Matt Morgan at BFG and Wolfe at last weeks Turning Point, can anyone else see another Four Way Main Event coming at Final Resolution, nothing has been officially announced, but it looks like TNA are swerving towards the multi man main events bouts in their PPVs recently.
Not to mention the re-branding of a one Jessie Neil, anyone remember this dude, he was the guy from the navy who wanted to fight for his friend, and then Rhino turned his back on him, well now, for some bizarre reason, he has came back as this crazy, extreme psychopath, with a bad haircut and tons of tattoos, and seems to have grown a few new biceps along the way. Not only that, but he ruined a pretty good match, the rematch between The Pope, Hernandez and Matt Morgan taking on Team 3D and Rhino, in, yes you guessed it, a street fight. For the second time in a row, Team 3D and Rhino excel over the younger guys with a win, apart from been carried for half of the match, this progressed the younger stars no were.

[^^^^ Quite a differenc I think you will agree, and yes, before you ask, it is the same guy]
Mick Foley played a major part in this weeks Impact as well, although not actually wrestling in the match he was scheduled to wrestle [thank you Abyss] he still done quite a good job, with his burnt out face thanks to Ravens fireball last week and an eye patch to sell his “blindness”, confronting Kevin Nash, whom revealed that when Hogan finally arrives, he’s not coming alone [expect Bischoff, Nasty Boys and a few other Hulk cling-ons to follow] to being hung by Raven in the backstage area, similar to the volatile way Abyss was treated earlier on in the show, with Raven back in TNA, expect Russo to have a field day coming up with crazy ideas for segments, remember the last time, the Clockwork Orange 2 sides of steel match, need I say anymore.
Two fairly decent knockouts matches and a pretty mediocre 8 man tag match between The Motor City Machineguns and Beer Money teaming up to wrestle the World Elite minus Eric Young. Which really didn’t do a lot to put over the impressive tag team division TNA has at their disposal, but surpassed some decent wrestling moves, and made Big Rob Terry look like even more of a berk than he already has been made to look in TNA. I mean, seriously, this guy is the size of Brutus Magnus and Doug Williams combined, yet he just sits there and lets them give him an earful about how stupid he is, really?
TNA Wrestling made a Turning Point in company standards this past Sunday, but it looks like they may be heading back to square one with the TV product, and head spearing straight into the monthly PPVs to sell everything the company has, which isn’t really a bad move, but without a top notch TV product, who’s actually going to buy the PPVs? Just look at WWE’s PPV figures for Summerslam and that will give you the answer.
Star of the Night – Christopher Daniels [Major heel turn]
Chump of the Night – Jessie Neil [What the hell is this persona going to achieve, really]
